All growth isn't equal: Categorizing Africa's fastest-growing economies

11 of the world's 15 fastest-growing economies will be in Africa in 2026, but the forces powering that growth couldn’t be more different.

For over a decade now, we’ve heard some variation of ‘X of the world’s Y fastest-growing economies are in Africa.’

In 2014, for example, at perhaps the height of the ‘Africa Rising’ narrative, you couldn’t go to an event about business in Africa without hearing that six of the world’s 10 fastest-growing economies were on the continent.
